National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

The idea of establishing a University in Greece emerged alongside with the Greek War of Independence, also known as the Greek Revolution. The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, officially founded in April 14th, 1837, is the first University not only of Greece but both the Balkan peninsula and the Eastern Mediterranean region.

International Hellenic University

The International Hellenic University (IHU) was Greece’s first public university where programmes were taught exclusively in English comprised three (3) Schools which offered twenty-four (24) master programmes. The IHU comprises nine (9) Schools and thirty-four (34) Departments.

University of Crete

Established in 1973, the University of Crete is a young public educational institution. Currently around 20,000 undergraduate and graduate students study through the Schools of Philosophy, Education, Social Sciences, Sciences & Technology, and Medicine.

EMSC

EMSC is a non-profit scientific organisation created in 1975 as a federation 84 seismological institutes from 55 different countries. Its mission is to empower citizens to reduce the impact of earthquakes and build a global, disaster – resilient community.

IPGP

The mission of the IPGP is not only to create and to transmit knowledge in Earth sciences, but also to observe natural phenomena. The Institute conducts researches in all fields of solid Earth studies (Geophysics, Geochemistry, Quantitative Geology) by combining terrestrial and marine observation as well as laboratory analysis and measurement with the development of conceptual, analogical and digital models.

Ecole Normale Supérieure

The Ecole normale supérieure provides excellent training through research, leading to various teaching and research professions, and contributes to train through research the senior executives of public administrations as well as of French and European companies. The ENS also defines and applies scientific and technological research policies, from a multidisciplinary and international perspective.
